Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are filled with a bunch of vitamins. Rather than eating your traditional sweet potato casserole though that’s covered in marshmallows, brown sugar, or butter, consider roasting some sweet potatoes and drizzling them with olive oil. Roasted sweet potatoes aren’t only flavorful but they won’t make you gain any unnecessary weight either.
Turkey
Luckily, the main course on Thanksgiving is turkey which is high in protein and low in fat. Make sure that you load up your plate with a bunch of white meat turkey. White meat is lower in fat which means that it better for your waist and your heart. Just make sure that you don’t cover it with gravy or cranberry sauce because it will just add extra calories to your meal.
Pumpkin Pie
In a perfect world, you wouldn’t eat any dessert, but since it’s Thanksgiving, you may as well entitle yourself to a tiny slice of pie, right? Rather than reaching for cake or fruit pie, consider eating pumpkin pie instead. Pumpkin is not only full of vitamins but pumpkin pie itself is typically lower in fat than other desserts.
