Lose That Double Chin with Kybella

Nothing ruins a good selfie quite like a double chin. Even if you know your angles, wouldn’t it be easier if you just got rid of it once and for all? The technical term for a double chin is “submental fullness” and don’t worry, there’s a way to get rid of that submental fullness. Kybella can get rid of your double chin.

So what is Kybella and how does it work?

Kybella is an FDA-approved drug that is identical to something your body makes called deoxycholic acid, which helps to absorb and eliminate fats. It is administered through a series of non-surgical injections. There are no incisions necessary and the downtime is usually minimal.

Is Kybella right for me?

There aren’t really many requirements for Kybella. The main criteria are that you’re over the age of 18 and have excessive fat under your chin that you’d like removed.

How many treatments are needed to see results?

Many patients find they only need two or three Kybella sessions to get the look they want. You and Dr. Watterson will discuss what bothers you about your neck and chin fullness to determine the best course of action. A treatment session takes between 15 and 20 minutes. Dr. Watterson chooses several injection sites where Kybella is administered. This process is then repeated one to three months later.

Are there any side effects?

As with any treatment, there are some possible but relatively minor side effects. Some of these side effects include:

  • Numbness
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Residual pain
  • Areas of hardness in the treatment area

Most of these potential side effects are minor and go away on their own. If you’re worried about any of the symptoms you’re experiencing, give our office a call. The overall recovery time from Kybella is one month.

How long will my results last?

Typically, patients report obvious effects after 12 weeks or at least 2 sessions. After six months, the maximum results can be seen and are long-lasting if not permanent.

Those are some of the basics of Kybella. If you have more questions or would like to schedule a consultation with Dr. Watterson, give us a call at 801-871-8407.
